Career Background:

Ryan Jervis was a teacher for 40 years in schools throughout Shropshire. He was born and educated in the county and lived in various parts of Shropshire when growing up, with his father employed as a policeman in the area.

He became the head teacher of Lakelands School in Ellesmere in 1995 and was prised out of retirement to become head of Adcote School in Shrewsbury, an independent girls school where he remained for two years. In 2008 he was appointed OBE in the Queens New Year’s Honours for services to education.

Ryan is a lifelong supporter of Shrewsbury Town and for 39 years has been their match day announcer. He believes the community impact of the football club should not be underestimated.

Why he’s a trustee:

“I am very proud to be a small part of the Shrewsbury Town in the Community project,” says Ryan. “Our committed and hard working colleagues are striving successfully to improve the quality of the lives of people of all ages, gender and physical fitness.

“Inclusion of all in the activities and programmes offered by the community is its principal ambition. Using the strength of the football club badge together with the recruitment of high quality staff and the growing resources available, the community will continue to make a significant impact on the lives of a growing number of people.”
