AFC Telford United Ladies 0 – 0 Shrewsbury Town Women
An even game away at Telford meant that Shrews came away with a point after a solid defensive performance. There were chances to win the game which means that Town might be a little disappointed that they didn’t come away with all three points.
BTEC
Elite – Sheffield United 3 – 3 Shrewsbury Town
A very good result against a strong Sheffield side. Town stood up well and threw their bodies on the line when needed, playing some great counter attacking football. The team showed great character to come from behind three times with a hattrick from Rhys Hesden. There was even a chance to win it at the end as Toby Morgan hit the post from another quick counter. Unfortunately the scores remained level, but it was a well earned point for Salop. Hesden and Olly McDougall putting in star performances
Development – Madeley Academy 5 – 1 Shrewsbury Town
Despite playing some really good football Town struggled in the final third. Madeley played very direct and quick football which was difficult to defend against. Regardless of the result there were still a lot of positives to take from the game with some good possession football, just lacking some composure in front of goal. Lucas Goldbourn getting the only goal of the game for Town. Goldbourn and Jamie Howells with the best performances
Shadow Squad
U13s West Worcester Academy 3 – 1 Shrewsbury Town
Shrewsbury deserved a lot more from this game where they played really well and with a great attitude, however two mistakes ended up costing them. In front of goal Salop just weren’t clinical enough despite creating plenty. Marley Woodcock got the team back into the game and the teams could have been level at half time. Unfortunately Town gave a penalty away just after the break and couldn’t find a way back after that. Shay Sterry, Ross Ford and Theo Ezea putting in the best performances.
U14s – Shrewsbury Town 7 – 2 Diamond Academy
Town responded well after going a goal down early on with Kieran Wental scoring two screamers to put Salop in-front. A third was added before the break however due to a Diamond player being injured in the build up, Town allowed them through to pull one back in the interest of fair play. After half-time it was one way traffic, with four goals being scored. Jamie Webb, Jerry Reynolds, Oliver Jones, Oliver Speake and Oliwer Fiedor were the other names on the scoresheet for Shrewsbury. Archie Morgan and Rhys Benson with the pick of the performances.
U15s – Shrewsbury 1 – 1 Gornal
A good point against Gornal who were top of the table going into the game. It was a tight 80 minutes until Devon Torry gave Shrewbury the lead, however the team couldn’t see it out and Gornal equalised. However Shrewsbury remain unbeaten and looking good after playing three of the current top 8 sides in the league. Stand-out players were Jesse Ansah and Will Jervis.
