Shrewsbury Town celebrate Christmas!
On Tuesday 19th December, Shrewsbury Town will be spreading Christmas cheer across Shropshire as part of their continued progress of giving back to everyone in the community.
This year, the team will visit 5 different events and locations across the county, including the Children’s ward at the Princess Royal Hospital and The Shrewsbury Ark.
Starting from 4pm, first team players Matt Sadler, Abu Ogogo and Alex Rodman, and ladies players Holly Nicholson, Charlotte Budd and Erin Taylor will visit the children at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.
Players from both the men’s and ladies squad, including Dean Henderson, will also visit Hope House in Oswestry, Dean, has already began raising awareness and money for Hope House by recently shaving his head for the charity. The players will be meeting children and learning more about Arthur’s story, a touching campaign that reflects the important work of Hope House.
Head of Community, Jamie Edwards, said “The club has an obligation to help and give back to the community, and it’s great to help out all year round. But when it comes to Christmas, there is an extra special meaning to it, being able to help other local charities who do such great work throughout the year, and being able to give back to them is something that everyone should be involved with.”
The Shrewsbury Ark will also be paid a special visit by players and staff of Shrewsbury Town, they will be handing out food donated by Shrewsbury Town supporters over their games against Bradford, Morecambe and Blackpool.
Young supporters of Shrewsbury Town won’t be left out either, with the clubs Junior Shrews Christmas party being held at Massarellas Café in the Darwin Shopping Centre, Juniors will be visited not only by players but by Santa himself.
Darwin Shopping Centre, who are one of Shrewsbury Town in the Community’s “Friends of the Community” partners, will also play host to a special player signing session for shoppers and visitors, with goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray, and first year professional Christos Shelis, as well as Shrewsbury Town ladies players Millie Young and Sasha Woodhouse signing autographs and posing for pictures. – please pop along from 4pm if you are free!

We’ve not hosted footballer meet-and-greets for a while so are really looking forward to welcoming them and fans”
