With his infectious personality, Zac has brought his passion to every session and now aims to pursue a future in coaching.
Read StoryAs part of our football and participation provision, Shrewsbury Town Foundation offers specialised sessions where everyone, particularly those with disabilities or additional needs, can actively participate in sports.
These sessions aim to create a supportive and engaging environment where participants can enjoy the benefits of physical activity, build skills, and develop social connections.
Two sessions in particular — ShrewsAbility, a weekly activity group, and Short Breaks, which takes place on matchdays — regularly welcome Theo, who has been attending for over nine years. Through these sessions, Theo has been given a platform to develop, whether through physical improvements, such as strength and fitness, or through social interaction, which has helped him improve communication and work as part of a team.
Speaking about Theo’s experience, his mum Catherine shared: “He’s always loved coming. It’s taken a long time, but he’s gradually built up some football skills, and he looks forward to seeing everybody each week.”
Outside of the ShrewsAbility and Short Breaks sessions, Theo has participated in a number of unforgettable activities. He has helped fundraise for our disability provision by taking part in the ShrewsAbility Fun Run numerous times and has also shared his story with viewers across the UK on Sky Sports.
Perhaps one of his biggest claims to fame is when he joined STFC as a mascot in the 2018 playoff finals against Rotherham United at Wembley Stadium.
No matter what he’s involved in, Theo always brings a smile and infectious enthusiasm, with coaches describing him as a breath of fresh air and a joy to be around. We’re proud to welcome him to each session, and that’s not just because of his excellent dance moves!
We want to provide opportunities to help individuals achieve their goals and realise their potential, but we can only do this with your support.
