Shrews4Kacey

As a student on our education programme, Kacey has gained practical experience and now plays a key role helping to grow the community.

The foundation offers a variety of education programmes designed to help students gain practical experience and develop essential skills in the sports industry.

Through partnerships with institutions such as SCL Education and the University of South Wales, students are able to pursue degrees while engaging in hands-on learning experiences within the foundation’s various programmes.

Kacey, a student at the foundation, became involved with us through her university degree programme. Initially, she started as a volunteer, working in soccer schools, facilities, and the ETC girls’ development centre. Her dedication quickly led to paid opportunities where she further honed her coaching skills.

If I could give advice to my younger self, I’d say just take every opportunity you can as it opens up so many doorways for your future.

By her second year, Kacey had become a part-time member of the foundation, benefiting immensely from the experience and mentorship offered by the coaching staff.

Throughout her time at the foundation, Kacey found that the programme not only advanced her coaching abilities but also broadened her social network, connecting her with peers from other clubs during residential visits.

These experiences, along with the opportunity to shadow experienced coaches and participate in various sports activities, have significantly boosted her confidence.

One of Kacey’s most memorable experiences was her first residential trip to Cardiff, where she bonded with other students and mentors, laying the foundation for lasting friendships.

“I didn’t realise how many roles you can do with this degree,” she said. “If I could give advice to my younger self, I’d say just take every opportunity you can as it opens up so many doorways for your future.”
