Taking part in our employability programmes has given Brandon the opportunity to develop new skills and prepare him for the future.
Read StoryThe Youth Hub at Shrewsbury Town Foundation continues to be transformative for many young people, and Harley’s journey is one in partcular that would not have been possible without the programme.
He first became aware of the hub by reading an article in the Shropshire Star. He decided to reach out by applying online and within a day, he received a call from Youth Hub Coach, Trish, who set up a welcome chat with him.
After several meetings, Harley became aware of the opportunities that the programme could provide, which led him to get involved with the club he loves.
From touring the grounds to meeting the team, Harley found himself excited and quickly settled in, despite initial nerves.
Through the Youth Hub, he has learned that everyone, regardless of background or disability, is valued and respected—a sense of belonging he finds immensely fulfilling.
A particularly memorable moment for Harley was assisting Blue, the club mascot, as they greeted fans around the stadium. This voluntary role offered him a unique perspective on the club’s operations and an invaluable opportunity to learn about the diverse roles within the organisation.
The Youth Hub has also boosted Harley’s confidence and opened his eyes to future possibilities in employment.
For anyone considering the programme, Harley’s advice is straightforward: “Go for it!”
He describes the experience as nothing short of amazing, with ongoing support and encouragement.
Harley’s ultimate goal is to build on this experience and, one day, secure a permanent role at the club—a dream he is eager to make a reality.
