Shrews4Andrew

Starting out as a volunteer, Andrew has gone on to become a full-time member of staff and an ambassador for our inclusion programmes.

Our inclusion programmes are pivotal in supporting the local community, from ShrewsAbility to Short Breaks, offering active sessions that cater to a range of needs.

A key figure in these programmes is our inclusion manager, Andrew, who has shown tremendous growth — from starting as a volunteer to becoming a full-time staff member.

Andrew’s journey with Shrewsbury Town Foundation began at the age of 14, when he first volunteered. Since then, he’s gained extensive experience across various programmes, engaging with a wide range of participants.

Throughout his time here, Andrew has been involved in football initiatives, including the foundation phase and youth development phase teams, however his passion lies in promoting inclusion.

Making a difference to every participant is the best experience you can have

He’s played a key role in walking football, disability sports, and PE sessions in schools. He also mentors students, sharing his experiences to guide them.

When asked about highlights from his career Andrew said, “making a difference to every participant is the best experience you can have”.

It’s not about any single moment, but the collective impact he’s had on those he’s worked with.

The foundation is proud to have supported Andrew, helping him in learning how to build adaptability, communication, and confidence.

His involvement, from volunteer work to coaching a variety of programmes, has provided invaluable support to not just the organisation, but to attendees and participants as well.
