NAW2025: Harvey's Success

For National Apprenticeship Week 2025, we’re celebrating success by sharing inspiring stories—starting with Harvey’s apprenticeship opportunity at Morris Lubricants.

Harvey joined the Youth Hub in April and quickly became a familiar face within the foundation impressing us with his knowledge of IT and his helpful attitude, fixing some laptops under his own initiative on his second visit! This led to us offering him some work experience allowing him to share his IT knowledge and interests in web development.
Alongside his work experience, Harvey continued to receive support with his CV, interview skills, confidence and team communication and was able to secure an interview for a full-time apprentice role with Morris Lubricants as an IT technician.
Harvey said “The main thing I take from the Youth Hub is the confidence they had in me. I had help with my CV, job applications and pushing me to believe in myself. I completed work experience at Shrewsbury Town Foundation, which helped me deal with a variety of tech, old and new. I’ve gone on to secure a full time 18-month Level 3 ICT apprenticeship with Morris Lubricants and couldn’t be happier about my future.”
With the help of his Manager, Neil, he is thriving and making an impact showcasing his knowledge and leadership qualities. When we spoke to Neil Taylor, IT Manager at Morris, he said “Having searched for an apprentice for a short while we were advised of Harvey via another local company who felt he would fit right in. Harvey works within a small team and is always chatty friendly and enthusiastic. We couldn’t be happier with what he brings to the team.”
Well done Harvey! We’re all proud of you!
