Through work and volunteering, Dave has been able to find a purpose and Shrewsbury Town FC Foundation is proud to have shaped his journey.
Dave Mitchell began his journey through a referral from his GP to our Exercise on Referral scheme after struggling with his mental health. It was here that he found a purpose and became a key member of the team through helping out in our gym sessions. Before long, we welcomed him as an official volunteer in both our health and wellbeing and disability sessions, where he used his own experiences as a session participant to inspire and motivate others.
We highlighted the incredible journey that Dave has been on at our annual Gala Dinner through our “Dave’s Journey” video (link), where he was awarded with a trophy to commend his impact on the foundation and was able to share his story with our partners and trustees. We are proud to be able to now have him working as a full time member of staff as our Community & Facilities Officer.
Through his new role, we are excited to see Dave’s continued progression and will continue to support his growth.
“I am incredibly proud of the progression our staff members have made within Shrewsbury Town FC Foundation, and Dave’s journey is a shining example of the opportunities we provide. Watching Dave evolve from a dedicated volunteer to a vital member of our team as a Community & Facilities Officer fills me with immense pride. It highlights the effectiveness of our programs in nurturing talent, fostering personal growth, and creating meaningful career pathways. Dave’s success story epitomizes the positive impact that our Foundation can have on individuals and the wider community.”
