Coaches from Shrewsbury Town FC Foundation have visited local schools to donate books and celebrate World Book Day!
In partnership with Premier League Primary Stars and the National Literacy Trust, the foundation have been provided with a range of exclusive World Book Day reads to deliver to local schools. The books include children classics such as “Elmer the Patchwork Story” as well as new additions “Loki: Tales of a Bad God” and “The Amazing Edie Eckheart”.
The schools visited are part of our partner schools delivery in Shropshire, where coaches have also been encouraging children to read and write with our Reading the Game programme. Some of these schools included Christ Church Primary, St Edwards, Baschurch Primary, and Milbrook Primary Schools.
Pupils at St Edwards Primary School in Dorrington also had a surprise visit from Shrewsbury Town FC mascot, Blue the lion, who joined in on the day’s festivities and took part in some fun activities alongside School Sport Coordinator, Simon Tisdale.
