On Friday 24th April Shrewsbury Town in the Community will be hosting our first-ever 24-hour football match at the Mercedes-Benz Football Hub to raise money for our Inclusive Sports programme!

The game will kick-off at 2:30pm with the two teams being managed by our Disability Co-Ordinators, Mark Bull and Scott Guilbert. They will be playing throughout the entire 24-hours with individuals and teams being able to book slots across the day. The event will be raising money for our Inclusive Sport programmes including ShrewsAbility, PL Kicks and our further work with the Every Player Counts scheme.

Although they know it will be a challenge, Mark and Scott are looking forward to the day –

“Obviously it’s going to be a tough challenge to last the full 24 hours but I’m excited to be raising funds our Inclusive Sports projects. I think we’re hoping to raise around £3,000 as a minimum so we are going to need lots of support, but with a 24 hour game you’re going to need lots of players so I’m pretty confident that we can get there! We’re hoping that this money can make a massive difference for our participants and help us to upgrade some of our equipment to make our sessions the best they can be. And to top it all off I get to beat Bully on the pitch!”  – Scott Guilbert

“I’m really looking forward to it! We’re going to need all the help we can get but it will definitely be a fun day for everyone involved. The main thing is to make sure we raise funds for our Inclusive Sports projects – for ShrewsAbility alone we need around £5,000 a year for facility hire, so we really do need everyone’s support. Any local teams, schools or clubs, get yourselves signed up for a slot!” – Mark Bull
